Community Involvement

The women throughout our 70 year history have made significant accomplishments and to honor this legacy we have included an up-to-date journal of articles, photos and documents that chronicle everything about who we are and how we grew to become the organization that we are today.

Transitional Independent Living

Adolescents who come of age in the foster care system are at a severe disadvantage when it comes to achieving successful independence, becoming involved in the criminal justice system at disproportionately high rates, and depending on welfare, even becoming homeless. The League has made a dramatic impact in our community's ability to deliver these transitional independent living skills to its foster youth by opening the FLITE Center in 2009

Junior League Playstation at Holiday Park

In collaboration with the City of Fort Lauderdale, the Junior League built a signature playground facility within the refurbished Holiday Park Complex.

The league raised $200,000 to build the train-themed playground. The playground is fully ADA compliant with wheelchair access and swings for young children with special needs.

Done in a Day (DIAD)

Members come together to target short term volunteer projects that can be accomplished in a single day. Projects have included but are not limited to:

  • Preparing meals for families staying at the Ronald McDonald House
  • Volunteering at Fleet Week
  • Collecting cribs for the babies at Susan B. Anthony Recovery Center
  • Hosting a Halloween party at Kids in Distress
  • Collecting gifts for the children at Jack and Jill Children's Center to give their caregivers
  • and more ....
