Prospective Member Sponsorship Form

All prospective members of the Junior League of Greater Fort Lauderdale must have a sponsor to join. It is encouraged that a New Member obtain her own sponsor. If you do not have a sponsor, we will match you with one.

In order to sponsor a potential member, the sponsor must be a member in good standing at the time the application is submitted. If the sponsor is a transfer, she must have been affiliated with the Junior League of Greater Fort Lauderdale for at least six (6) months. New Members may not be a sponsor. Sponsors may not be related to the potential member by blood, marriage or adoption.

Please discuss the mission of the League and the requirements of membership with the potential members. Emphasize the importance of fulfilling the obligations of the Provisional Course.

Attendance with the potential member is recommended at the Prospective Member Socials and the New Member Welcome Social.

Requirements For Membership

ELIGIBILITY: A prospective member shall have reached her 22nd birthday by December 31 of the year in which her proposal is submitted and shall have resided or worked within Broward County for at least two (2) months by the application deadline.
CRITERIA FOR MEMBERSHIP: The Junior League of Greater Fort Lauderdale shall use the following criteria for consideration of applicants for Provisional membership:

a. Age, sponsorship, and residency
b. Commitment to community service
c. Interest in developing her potential for voluntary community participation

No additional criteria shall be used. The application form shall include only information based on the above criteria.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF SPONSORSHIP OBLIGATIONS

My potential member meets the age and residency requirements for membership and is a suitable candidate for membership based on the Guidelines for Membership described above. In addition, I have reviewed the obligations of membership with my Potential Member. I feel that she understands that in order to be eligible for active membership, she will be required to successfully complete all New Member requirements as noted in the New Member Agreement. As a sponsor of the Potential Member named above, I understand that I am expected to attend the Potential Member Informational Socials and New Member Welcome Social with my Potential Member.
